Joachim Worthington
Joachim Worthington's research focuses on using mathematics to develop models of cancer development and costs. These models are used to evaluate the potential benefits, harms, and costs of prevention activities such as routine screening or surveillance.
Previously, Dr Worthington worked on projects including evaluating the cost-effectiveness of mass-media campaigns to improve participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, as well as estimating the potential health and economic consequences of pausing bowel screening during the COVID-19 pandemic.
His current work focuses on the potential of surveillance for patients at high risk of developing liver cancer, such as patients with fatty liver disease or hepatitis. He has a particular interest in evaluating emerging technologies for non-invasive liver screening.
